Haik Mesropian is a visionary Armenian artist whose innovative style, known as Uritarium, redefines the boundaries of contemporary art. Drawing from philosophy and abstract expressionism, his work invites viewers to explore layered emotions and hidden meanings. Each piece challenges traditional narratives, encouraging deep reflection and dialogue. With international recognition and a growing collector base, Mesropian believes that true art transforms the viewer—making them a part of the creative process itself.
About the Artist
Born in 1967 in Yerevan, Armenia, Haik Mesropian studied at the Panos Terlemezian Yerevan State College of Arts. After moving to Moscow in 1993, he joined the CROSSROAD art group and became a member of The International Federation of Artists. In 2000, Haik relocated to Switzerland where his work was permanently exhibited at the Anixis Gallery. He returned to Armenia in 2017 and is now based in Lori. Since 2022, Haik has been represented by Barev Art Gallery in the United States.
Artist Statement
Haik Mesropian delves into the ethereal connections between himself and the surrounding world, translating fleeting life experiences into tangible artistic expressions for over 40 years. Eschewing specific styles or cultural symbols, his work embodies a free-form interaction with the environment, unrestricted by themes or elements. Drawing inspiration from the limitless potential of life and its diversity, Haik aims to transcend linguistic, locational, and cultural barriers. His art, a dialogue with existence itself, celebrates the boundless nature of creative self-expression, spanning from costume design to grand-scale theater decorations and installations.
Mesropian's art transcends traditional mediums, embracing a limitless approach to creativity, capturing transient moments of life in a blend of acrylics, collages, and calligraphy without specifically symbolizing his cultural roots but instead reflecting a fluid inspiration from all aspects of life
